1) Slit open one end of the box to roll out the machine
2) Flip up handle and tighten the lock knob
3) Add oil (included)
4) Add fuel (not included)
5) Connect spark plug wire to spark plug
6) Set throttle, pump primer bulb, pull on starter handle
Mine fired up on the 2nd pull. The trimmer head will not turn until the control bar is held against the handle. I am surprised how quiet the machine is! Buy plenty of line. Mine came with line installed and one pair of replacements. I was getting aggressive and trashed my line in 15 minutes. This is lighter and easier to maneuver than a normal lawn mower. I wanted a self-propelled model but am happy I didn't waste the extra $ because this one is plenty easy to push & pull around. My property is on a slight slope so this is important to me. I was aggressively cutting 3' tall weeds and some got wrapped up in the head stalling the motor, however, it is very easy to remove the tangle - nothing like fighting the weed-snarls I get in my hand-held string trimmer.
I am very impressed with this machine. Based upon my experience with other power equipment I expect this will last a very long time.
